Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Water/Wastewater Controls Systems Project Manager in our Columbus, OH office. This is a project leadership role supporting planning, design, and integration projects for large and complex water and waste water Clients, with a focus on Electrical and Control Systems and mechanical systems. This position requires an experienced engineer who will be responsible for coordinating with multidiscipline teams, and managing workflow through all stages of the project lifecycle. They will be responsible for leading project teams to complete design documents, and program, test, and commission control systems. They will be involved in reviews of documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines, and will also be involved in coordination during construction phases including the review of shop drawings and field inspections on an as needed basis. They must be self-motivated and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound control system deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or Controls related field
  • 10 years applicable experience in engineering design, control system programing, construction, testing and start up
  • Hands on experience designing I&C, electrical or mechanical systems for both stand-alone and multidisciplinary projects, including schematics and layouts
  • Hands-on experience in the development of control narratives / loop descriptions
  • Design experience in Industrial or Water/Wastewater
  • Knowledgeable of remote site telemetry communications
  • Knowledgeable of cybersecurity considerations in Industrial or Water/Wastewater
  • Knowledgeable of PLC hardware/software and SCADA/HMI software in Industrial or Water/Wastewater

Preferred Qualifications

  • PLC programming experience and HMI development preferred
  • Planning knowledge preferred
  • PE license, or ability to be licensed
  • PMP Preferred
  • Preference given to local candidates
