Job Description

  • Select and utilize the following types of tools, as well as evaluate their measurement results to determine conformance to specification: hand tools (micrometers and calipers), gages, optical comparator, electronic measuring equipment, weights/balances/scales, hardness testing equipment, and color measurement tools (spectrophotometer, color guides and light boxes).
  • Oversee the plant calibration system, including Measurement and Test Equipment identification, traceability and control, establishing calibration intervals, ensuring compliance to requirements, and identifying the causes of calibration efforts and their effects on processes and products.
  • Read, interpret and apply requirements as specified in company drawings, specs and quality plans.
  • Assist plant personnel with plant responsibilities and provide training, including areas such as spec interpretation, calibration, material review, and corrective action.
  • Conduct and train others on manufacturing process requirements and inspection techniques. This includes selection of the proper tools, understanding of the requirements, and adherence to the requirements.
  • Perform product and process audits, including identification of audit requirements, training, record keeping, closure, and verification.
  • Assist manufacturing personnel with the corrective action process. Requirements include an understanding of root cause analysis, short term corrective actions, long term corrective actions and verification.
  • Assist with the review of customer complaints, analysis of claims, and make recommendations for corrective action.
  • Assist with implementing statistical methods and establishing in control and capable processes.
  • Update Quality Assurance procedures, quality plans, work instructions and forms when required.
  • Enter quality performance data as required.
  • Work with plant personnel on problem solving and process improvements through an understanding and application of ABS, SPC, IC&C principles and methods.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Quality Supervisor or Manager.

Basis or Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a facilities, manufacturing or warehouse environment;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes and principles
  • ASQ CQT certification
  • Experience in inspection methods and techniques, as well as experience with inspection equipment, hand tools and gages
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively write corrective action reports, audit reports and reports for management
