Our Gits Manufacturing business is adding a Senior Buyer to their team at their new Product Innovation Center in Urbandale, IA (West DSM). This role will report to the Global Sourcing Leader with responsibilities to monitor key performance metrics (such as PPV, Supplier Performance, MRP Action Messages, etc.), manage the Asian supply base and be involved with special projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Identifies and develops suppliers.
• Negotiates, writes contracts, completes value analysis of suppliers.
• Find ways to help Suppliers give the company better costs.
• Works with Suppliers to increase the quality of their products.
• Work to improve supplier delivery schedules and delivery frequency (KanBan, JIT Consignment).
• Takes appropriate action towards attainment of goals and objectives, working as a partner and contributor to the other business functions within the company.
• Understand manufacturing cost drivers and perform total cost analysis.
• Strong demonstrated outsourcing experience with successful cost reduction while meeting all quality and delivery requirements.

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge of plant manufacturing processes, material and production control, material specifications, kaizen, Kanban, MRP II, international buying and vendor certification required.
• Experience in establishing and developing suppliers to meet the purchasing requirements of Demand Flow manufacturing.
• Resourcefulness and initiative to make decisions and take actions, which will avoid material shortages or losses, keeping abreast of market trends, alternative processes, new technologies, costs and other similar factors necessary.
  • APICS or NAPM certification.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems applications.
  • ECN, APQP, or other product development team experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the purchasing of manufactured materials and mechanical equipment required.
